“Ancient Olympia: Common Grounds”

The project “Ancient Olympia: Common Grounds” is a collaboration between the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Microsoft, which is harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to digitally preserve and restore the site of Ancient Olympia for future generations.

Athens Olympic Museum hosts this fascinating mixed reality exhibition in the Events Hall at Level 0 and invites you to digitally navigate and explore Ancient Olympia, as it stood in its glory more than 2,000 years ago. Go back in time and stop in 173 A.D.; navigate around the various sights and digital monuments; listen to the sounds of the Ancient Games and become part of their history.

In parallel, explore in detail the historical monuments of Ancient Olympia in full 3D mode on the Web, using the desktops available in the hall. Share your thoughts with voice or text messages to reflect the mutual beliefs and the ways people are interconnected by our common history and events.

You can download the App for mobile devices in order to enjoy a unique augmented reality experience, which brings monuments to life at real - world scale.

Visit the Athens Olympic Museum and enjoy this captivating multi-sensorial experience.

The Mixed Reality Exhibition “Ancient Olympia: Common Grounds” has free admission.
