Temporary Exhibition "18 dialogues with 2004"

The Athens Olympic Museum presents its new Temporary Exhibition titled “18 dialogues with 2004,” showcasing an equal number of paintings by contemporary Greek artist Dimitris Koukos, originally created for the ATHENS 2004 Olympic Games. The exhibition was made possible with the support of the non-profit organization Alliance for Greece and is held under the auspices and financial support of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture.
Honoring the 20th anniversary of the Games’ return to Athens, the Museum incorporates 18 of Koukos' works into its Permanent Exhibition, sparking a meaningful dialogue with selected artifacts and exhibits. These modern visual interpretations of Olympic sports serve as thematic tools that allow visitors to explore the roots of ancient athletics, their evolution through time, revisit historic Olympic moments, and relive the achievements of Greek Olympic champions from 2004.
The Contemporary Art Exhibition “18 dialogues with 2004” is part of the Athens Olympic Museum’s programming cycle “From Athens 2004 to Paris 2024,” marking the 2024 Olympic year. It will run until April 30, 2025, offering visitors a unique cultural experience that highlights the timeless connection between art and sport.
